What is cold rolled angle steel?
Cold rolled angle steel is made from steel plates, which are first cut to the desired width and then formed directly by machine bending process, most of the dimensions are the same as hot rolled angles, but the thickness will be thinner than hot-rolled angles.
The difference in price
The raw material of hot rolled angle steel is billet, the manufacturing process is from ore smelting into iron, to billet to finished products, cold rolled angle steel is made of steel plate, it is manufacturing process has an additional step of manufacturing steel plate than hot rolled angle steel, so the price of cold rolled angle is higher than hot rolled angle.
The difference in shape
Hot-rolled angles have flat outer corners and curved inner corners, which ensure its high strength performance and are not easily deformed.
Cold rolled angle steel has the same outer and inner curvature, its mechanical properties are softer than hot rolled angle steel, but it is easier to bend or make various shapes
The difference in specification
The size of hot rolled angle cannot be changed, there is a steel angle list that buyers can only choose from the existing standard size table, but cold rolled angle can be made any size, you can customize the specifications easily.
The difference in Thickness
Cold rolled angle steel has strict requirements for the tensile strength and yield strength of the raw material steel plate, small tensile strength and big yield strength of the steel plate is hard to bend, due to the concern of tensile strength and yield strength, all cold rolled angle steel is generally thin in thickness, usually between 1mm-4mm. but the thickness range of hot rolled angle steel is bigger than cold rolled angle steel.
The difference in length
Hot rolled angle steel is made by standard lengths at 6m 9m 12m and no other lengths can be specified (unless there is a huge quantity of orders to support the factory to change the length). However, cold rolled angle steel can be cut to any length without a huge quantity.
The difference in min order
Due to the standardized production of hot rolled angle steel, it is available in large quantities in the market, and any quantity of orders can be delivered. But the minimum order quantity of cold rolled angle steel is determined by the steel plate, the weight of a steel plate or a steel coil is the min order quantity of the cold rolled angle steel, usually, it is about 30 tons of min quantity.

Hot rolled angle steel are only available at 90 degree right angles, while cold rolled angle steel can be customized to any angle degree, such as 90 degrees or 45 degrees.
